Most measurement failures come from how the photo was taken. Start by checking these three points.
- Shoot through the inspection window: Take the photo through the inspection window of the caliper, the part that holds the brake pad.
- Hold the camera against the window: Keep the camera steady against the window, at a distance of 20 mm to 35 mm from the pad.
- Capture the three parts with the laser perpendicular: Emit the laser perpendicularly and fit the brake pad (friction material), the backing plate, and the rotor in the frame.
If the measurement still fails, check the laser shape, dirt on the parts, image distortion, and your network connection, in that order.
