The handy camera is not recognized, or the video is distorted or missing

If the handy camera is not recognized, or the video is distorted or does not appear, try the following in order.

  1. Unplug the USB cable and connect it again.
  2. Restart the app, then connect the USB cable.
  3. Try a different USB cable.

If that does not help, check the items below for your situation.

If the video does not appear or the camera is not recognized

  • Check that your device is supported. This service supports Android OS 9.0 or later, and iPadOS 17.0 or later with a USB Type-C port. The iPhone and devices without a USB Type-C port, such as iPads with a Lightning connector, are not supported.
  • Even on a supported OS version, some models cannot recognize the camera. This is because support for the USB camera standard (UVC, USB Video Class) and for powering and communicating with USB devices (USB OTG) differs by model and manufacturer.
  • Check that your smartphone or tablet is not set to refuse USB accessory connections. When the permission message appears on connection, choose to allow it.
  • Check the app's camera permission. Go to your device settings, then apps, then BRAKEPAD SCAN, then permissions, and make sure camera access is allowed.
  • Check whether power saving or battery saver mode is on. When it is on, USB power can be limited and the device may not be recognized correctly. Turn it off temporarily and try again.
  • Check that your OS and security patches are up to date. On older versions, USB driver issues may not be fixed.
  • When the camera is recognized correctly, its illumination LED turns on automatically at connection. If the light does not turn on, power or communication has probably not been established, which means the camera is not recognized. Use this as a check alongside the items above.

If the video is distorted or cuts out

  • Check your device's battery level. When the battery is low, the power supply can become unstable, which can drop the connection or interrupt the video. We recommend using the app with a sufficiently charged device.
  • Some models supply less USB power, which can distort the video or prevent it from appearing. Try another supported device to see whether the same symptom occurs.
  • A damaged cable or a poor connection can also be the cause. You can use a commercially available USB Type-C cable, so try a different cable.

If none of the above resolves the issue, contact support and include the model name of your device.
