Creating an inspection

Once setup is complete, connect the handy camera and create an inspection.

Entering vehicle information

1. In the app, tap Inspections at the bottom of the screen, then tap the + button in the lower right to open the Inspection Registration screen.
2. Tap Input Vehicle Information at the top of the screen and enter the vehicle information. All fields are optional. Enter the following, then tap Confirm.
   • License Plate Number
   • Vehicle Type
   • Model Type
   • Chassis Number
   • Operator (select)
   • Facility (select)

Measuring

1. Tap the wheel you want to inspect. The image from the connected handy camera appears in the app.

   If you are asked to allow access to photos or the camera, tap to allow it.

   On iPad, you must register or confirm the handy camera. See Connecting the handy camera and the confirmation dialog (iPad only).

2. Insert the handy camera through the gap in the wheel and adjust it so that the brake pad (friction material), the backing plate, and the rotor are all visible through the caliper inspection window.

   Adjust the brightness with the LED buttons as needed.

3. Hold the camera against the caliper to keep it steady.

   This prevents camera shake and keeps the shooting distance in the right range.

4. Press the camera button on the handy camera to emit the laser.

5. With the laser hitting the brake pad perpendicularly, tap Take Photo in the app.

   You can also use the volume buttons or a compatible remote shutter button. This is useful on larger devices such as an iPad.

6. Check the captured image, then tap Measure Brake Pad from Image. The thickness of the brake pad is measured.

   If the measurement fails, see the capture tips and take the photo again.

7. When the measurement is complete, tap Confirm and measure the next wheel in the same way.
8. Add the following as needed.
   • Attached Images (up to 18)
     • You can attach photos of items such as cracks in dust boots, tire wear, or the condition of the engine compartment, and include them in the report.
     • You can add attached images in the following ways.
       • Take a photo with the handy camera
       • Take a photo with smartphone
       • Choose from album
   • Inspection Notes (up to 150 characters)
     • Inspection notes are not included in the report.
9. When you have measured all the wheels you need, tap Register to finish.
   • To exit without registering, tap the back arrow in the upper left.

About shooting conditions

Analysis is possible from positions other than the inspection window, as long as the brake pad (friction material), the backing plate, and the rotor are all visible at the same time — for example, through a gap in the caliper. However, if you shoot at an angle or from the side, the brake pad appears skewed in the image. This can make the true thickness impossible to measure, or cause the backing plate to be mistaken for the pad, so analysis may fail or become less accurate.
